The first children's book of the two Thuringian authors Maja Quaas and Marlene Hofmann (title: "Ein Fall für Posti und Stein - Der Ritter, der keine Ruhe fand") was published in co-operation with Museum Burg Posterstein, Thuringia. The first edition of 50 books is already sold out.

"Ein Fall für Posti und Stein" is a mixture of detective story for children and knight- and history story. The pink ghost Posti and the chubby dragon Stein are the good ghosts of the castle of Posterstein. Their main activity is to haunt the old castle - and once in a while to scare the museum's visitors. But one day they discover that they are not the only poltergeists in the castle. The knight's armour starts to run riot in the museum and moves. As the ghost are spying on the armour, they trace an old secret.

"Paula in der Aula" is a Thuringian story book for pupils, which the Friedrich-Bodecker-Kreis (FBK) fur Thuringia published in December 2010. 24 authors and 8 illustrators have contributed with stories and pictures. Marlene Hofmann illustrated Elisabeth Dommers short story "In der Rindenhaut".

We still can se the old castle... Manor houses in the county of Altenburg (part II)

The catalogue of the German Museum Burg Posterstein's new special exhibition deals with the history of about 40 former manor houses in the county of Altenburg (Thuringia) - some of them desappeared with the land reform in the Sowiet zone in 1945. In years of research in the local archives the author Gustav Wolf collected detailled information on the single manor houses' history. Wolfs results will be presentet in a sepcial exhibition from august 29th 2010 to january 31st 2011 in the Museum Burg Posterstein. Part of the exhibition is a film and an interaktive map.

Marlene Hofmann was involved as a lector for the catalogue "Das alte Schloss sehn wir noch heut... Aus der Geschichte der Rittergüter im Altenburger Land" part II and as graphic designer for the exhibition. "Jenny und Das Zauberpferd" by Elisabeth Dommer (Schatzkiste) - In German

Elisabeth Dommers children's book "Jenny und das Zauberpferd" was published in a new edition with a cover painting by Marlene Hofmann in March 2010 in "Die Schatzkiste" (Allitera Verlag).
 
Jenny doesn't get along with her new mother and neither with the children in her new school. There is nobody she can talk to. The little magic horse Pegy becomes her best friend. Pegy comforts hr and makes her lough. It shows her the magic time forest. And it helps her to understand, what her mother and the shy boy David from her class hide from the other pupils. When Pegy wants to return in it's own world, Jenny tries to time travel as well. But that's not an easy thing to do and Jenny gets in danger.

"Bonny Wundernuss" by Elisabeth Dommer (Thami Verlag 2009) - In German

"Blaufunkel - und andere Geschichten" by Elisabeth Dommer
(with illustrations by Marlene Hofmann) - In German

"Blaufunkel" is a reading book for children in primary school. It contains seven short stories: The title story "Blaufunkel", "Der Wind und die Vier" (The wind and the four), "Der Junge am Fluss" (the boy at the river), "Klettermaxe", "Rolli spielt verrückt" (Rolly runs riot), "Der Tanz mit der Katze" (the dance with the cat) and "Die Stimme der Eule" (the voice of the owl).
Elisabeth Dommer tells exciting and visionary stories, in which children recognize their own world. When Elisabeth Dommer is reading for children she often has a curious listening audience.

The book contains also five illustrations, drawn by Marlene Hofmann.

Both funny and cathastropically, merry and crazy: in this book journalists of the German newspaper taz (die tageszeitung) and friends tell their holy horror christmas stories. It contains the best of the christmas stories that are traditionally published in christmas time in taz nord, a serial called "Holy Horror Picture" (source: www.taz.de).

Also Marlene Hofmann wrote a story for this book. It is about a chaotic christmas eve with a new drum kit and a CD of Die Roten Rosen adding a new tune to the traditional celebration.

Ein Lesebuch aus dem Altenburger Land - In German

Since almost ten years a literature contest for pupils is hold in Altenburg, a town in Thuringia, Germany. To show the best of those stories and poems to a broader public this book was published in 2005. It contains a best off the years 2000 - 2003 and serves as a reading book in local schools. In connection with the publication of this book a painting contest was hold as well - the best paintings serve as illustrations.

The book contains stories and poems of Antonia and Marlene Hofmann, too.
